OCTOBER 31, 2009

Finally, finally, finally, an update on the Lil Pete progress!

Ok, you probably think Lil Big Rig fell off the planet and I have, for the last 3 months, but lots of things have happened, in that time!  The Lil Pete is 99% complete and on the road.  Yes, I said on the road!!  I have moved the manufacturing facility to a bigger and better building.  I have basically re-organized and re-structured the whole company.  Sometimes you have to take a step back in order to move forward and I am happy to say that Lil Big Rig is on the forward move and is ready to get down to business!

The reason for the lack of updates and response to e-mails is that Marsha has left the company and has moved on to other things.  Although I haven't had time to respond to all the e-mails, I am only a phone call away.  If you have a question please feel free to call me!

I have added all the new pictures of the Lil Pete, which are more or less self-explanatory.  The left hand air cleaner is functional with a K+N cone filter.  The right hand air cleaner will be connected to the a/c unit as a fresh air inlet.  The air horns are functional with an air compressor and tank that are mounted in the driver side step box.

The concept, design and research of the Lil Pete started in November 2007.  After many, many hours and lots of hard work the prototype hit the street in October 2009.  The Lil Pete has been a two year process that has been time consuming and expensive to develop and complete.  I am now taking orders for 2010 delivery!

This is the final update for the Lil Pete!!

Hopefully the office, in the new building, will be up and running in the next few weeks.  At that time, I will be able to respond to your e-mails in a more timely manner!

Thank you all for your patience and interest in the Lil Pete!  Hope to hear from you soon!

So, I bet most of you have been wondering, "What's going on???  Where is the update???"  According to several e-mails we have received, many of you think we are shutting down.  That is DEFINATELY NOT the case.  As stated in an earlier update, we have felt the effects of a negative economy and only put the prototype Lil Pete up for sale to boost a positive cash flow.  The sale of the prototype did spark some interest from several customers but nobody took the opportunity to purchase the almost complete Lil Pete at an excellent price.  Even though the prototype was advertised for sale we have continued working, very diligently, to complete it.  We are so close to completing it now that we have withdrawn the sale option.

As you can see from the pics below, we have made great strides in the progress of the Lil Pete prototype!!  A few more weeks and we will be driving it down the road!  Oh! What an exciting day that will be!!!!

We welcome your comments!  Please e-mail us @ lilpete@lilbigrig.com.

Stay tuned....  More updates to come!

JUNE 12, 2009

Well as you can see it has been another busy week at Lil Big Rig!  Again, this week we have worked on the details of making the Lil Pete look as much like a regular size peterbilt, as possible.  We installed the windshields.  We mounted the custom made mirror finish stainless steel visor.  The cab clearance lights were installed too!  The outer appearance is coming together now and we are really excited about it!  This week we also manufactured a custom overhead console for the cab.  It was designed for extra storage in the cab, kinda like a glove box.  There is enough clearance to mount a cb radio under the console in the middle and a speaker on each side.  The console is what we chose for the prototype but this item will be an option depending on the customer's individual taste.  We also got the upholstery backer panels cut out for the interior.  This is an option that will be added to our pricing soon!

As many of you may have noticed we added a Lil Petes For Sale page to our web-site this week.  We put the prototype Lil Pete on it as the first Lil Pete for sale.   Yes, we are selling the prototype Lil Pete before it is finished.  The development work is complete and we need to create a positive cash flow to offset the huge investment in the creation of this product.  Of course, we would prefer to sell more Lil Pete body assemblies and complete the prototype Lil Pete ourselves, however, like a lot of businesses today, we are feeling the effects of a negative economy but we are prepared to do whatever it takes to keep the ball rolling.  We are offering this truck, as is or completed, to achieve this goal.  Upon the sale of the prototype we will immediately start another Lil Pete.

JUNE 5, 2009

In last week or so we have paid attention to DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS!! We started the engine and it sounds great through the 4" staight exhaust stacks!  That was and EXCITING day!!  We have the headlight assembly brackets mounted and the hood steps mounted.  Both of these brackets are custom molded aluminum brackets and as you can see from the pics they look great!  The dashboard has been laid out and is ready for gauges.  This is the layout we are using, however, our customers have the option to lay it out to suit thier own individual taste.  We painted and mounted the filler panel between the hood and the cab entry steps.  This is also a custom built item.  The original vehicle wiring harness has been professionally sorted and adapted to the Lil Pete.  We are making steady progress every day!!  Needless to say, we are all ready to drive it down the road!

MAY 18, 2009

Last week we got the rear fenders and brackets mounted.  We got the exhaust stacks and heat shields installed.  We also made progress on the wiring and dashboard layout (not pictured).

MAY 8, 2009

We made great progress this week!!  We got the body and hood mounted on the donor frame.  The cab entry steps / battery boxes are mounted.  The doors have been installed.  And finally the bumper and the front wheels are on the truck!  As you can see from the pictures below, it's been a long but very productive week!

Lots of progress has happened this week!!  Bob and Jessie have been super busy!  The cab/sleeper is painted, wet sanded and had its initial buffing.  The frame got its final coat of paint and the fuel tanks have been mounted.
