Company Profile and Owner Experience
Company Profile
Lil Big Rig was formed in September 2001 in Nashville, TN and is an owner operated company. The development of the Lil Kenny prototype started in June 1999 and has been an ongoing project, with detailed and exacting improvements to ensure a top quality body assembly.
Owner Profile
The company is owned and managed by Bob Suffern, an expatriate Australian who migrated to the USA in 1983. Bob built his first car (a 1932 Ford Roadster now known as a low boy, pictured below) in 1959. This was a three year project Bob started at the age of 15. Most of the hot rod was fabricated as very few commercial items were available in the 50's, especially in Australia. He has spent most of his adult life in the auto/motorcycle business with vast experience in mechanical design and engineering. Bob built a DRB GT40 over a two year period from 1997 to 1999 (also pictured below).
Among other innovative projects he has undertaken are an off road buggy with radical suspension and a Kawasaki Ninja 1100 engine. The entire buggy weighs less than 800 lbs (also pictured below). He is also restoring an antique 1924 JD model V twin Harley Davidson.
From 1993 to 2003 he was the owner of an engineering and machine shop in Nashville, specializing in special machine design and construction, with the emphasis on assembly machines for the automotive component industry, supplying new car manufacturers. These machines were always constructed to OEM specifications and consequently, he has extensive experience working with very fine tolerances. The exceptional quality of Lil Big Rig body assemblies is a reflection of this experience.
Bob has a reputation as a "hands on, get things done" person with an eye for detail and great business flair. Customers of Lil Big Rig can be assured of fair dealing, timely delivery and customer service second to none in the industry.
